About the event
Materials for the Arts (MFTA) is New York City’s premiere municipal Creative REuse arts & education center. How it works: Materials for the Arts diverts surplus items away from the waste stream by taking in donations from individuals and businesses. Schools and organizations find innovative ways to use these materials by creating artwork and unique projects, and materials are given out for free to nonprofits and schools. The goal is to make a larger impact on the global carbon footprint through sustainability practice in creativity. Thanks to donations, Materials for the Arts is helping those who need and contributing to a cleaner, greener world.
The tour will be lead by Harriet Taub , Executive Director of Materials for the Arts, and include an introduction to the work of Materials for the Arts, a tour of the warehouse, information about their community engagements efforts and workshops, and a chance to visit the in house gallery.
