About the event
Circularity surrounds us. We see it most clearly when it’s absent or disrupted. As our mobility systems progress through the clean energy transition, the changes are presenting opportunities to strengthen the circularity of our cities - across social equity, technology, environment, economy, and politics. The focus of this discussion will be the opportunity electrification of mobility is playing as cities transition to an equitable, decarbonized and circular future. As well as the challenges that must be overcome. The panelists are leaders across North and South America, each bringing examples of successful initiatives underway that can inform and scale to other communities.
Please join us to hear from several of our partners, working collaboratively with cities, communities, businesses and funding bodies to implement meaningful changes to mobility in a circular fashion NOW!
- What are some of the challenges facing cities seeking to enable the electrification of transport?
- What opportunities can be found when cities think holistically about the transition?
- How do we effectively convene stakeholders in cities to give everyone a voice?
- What approaches can ensure a just transition that is equitable and accessible for all?
Hear from city representatives, utilities, technology providers and planning and execution specialists about how they’ve progressed understanding and collaboration, as well as aligning key stakeholders, to address challenges involved with electrification of transportation. Simultaneously, our panelists are working to address the interrelated matters of decarbonization, resiliency, equity and public health.

About the convening hosts: Arup and Enel, both globally respected leaders in their fields of work, have collectively published over a dozen papers and works on circular economy. Our partnership has supported numerous circularity and decarbonization projects for cities and businesses as together we work to transition to an equitable and inclusive circular economy while supporting the achievement of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
For over three decades, Arup has helped shape cities across the US and globally by working with clients to realize their vision for creating more accessible, equitable, and livable cities. Constantly developing and testing solutions to address common barriers to EV uptake and expand sustainability and circularity, Arup developed the Charge4All tool, a site suitability analysis framework specifically designed for scaling curbside EV charging infrastructure. And Arup walks the walk: the firm has adopted a Net Zero plan across global operations and have disengaged from work that furthers extraction, refining and transport of hydrocarbon-based fuels.
Celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2022, Enel, a multinational power company and leading integrated player in the global power and renewables markets, is a strong proponent of sustainability, supporting a just transition for the energy sector and a transition to an inclusive and equitable circular economy. Enel firmly believes in Creating Shared Value for the communities where it operates. The companies approved, Science Based Targets for emissions reduction and Net Zero ambition are being tackled by working throughout all stages of the value chain; reaffirming the Group’s circularity target of 92% by 2030 that was announced during the companies 2021 Capital Markets Day event.
